I got my tax refund yesterday. Tax refunds are like a mini windfall to me. While I know I should put all the money into my credit card debt, I decided to donate part of it to the Children’s Hospital ‘Balding for Dollars‘ fund-raiser, taking place next week. A team of teachers and students at my school are shaving their heads on Wednesday as part of a Province-wide event to raise money for children with cancer and blood disorders. It’s a great cause, and I trust that the money will be well managed. I seriously considered shaving my head, too. Upon reflection, and with the realization that I’m turning 40 this year and need all the help I can get in the “looks” department, I decided to just donate money.
If you would like to help some genuinely wonderful kids for a great cause, you can donate money to any of the people on my school’s team. I donated to Chris Tsang, the man who I share my teaching load with while I remain on health leave for my mental problems. Dear lord, we all need a little help, don’t we. Please donate if you can.
